Wanted: One sign missing from my yard
|
I want my sign back. It’s plastic on a wire frame, about 1 foot tall, 2 feet wide, with a blue background. The most conspicuous markings on it say, “Kerry/Edwards, A Stronger America.” Someone took it from me, and I’d like to get it back.
Sadly, I don’t believe this will happen. There has been a rash of sign theft all over Warren County. Amazingly, the only signs that seem to have been removed are ones that look like my missing sign. The sign thieves don’t take the yard sale signs, or the auction signs, or even the “Bush/Cheney” signs. Why would this be?
Does a certain group around here feel threatened by a small, blue sign in my yard that says I object to the way this country is being run right now and I’m prepared to vote for change? Perhaps it’s a group of teenagers out playing pranks. But no, why would teenagers target only “Kerry/Edwards” signs.
It must a group of adults who act immature and petty by stealing property other people have paid for because they are afraid it might influence the election. I guess this shows what type of battle we’re up against.
So, while writing this letter, I guess I have changed my own mind. Whoever took my sign, you keep it. I only had it there to show you who I’m going to vote for on Nov. 2, and you have proof of that now. I’m going to vote for Kerry because this country needs me to, and a little blue sign on Stubblefield Road will not make the difference in my vote or the millions of others who are ready for change.
