Time warp continues in misses fashion trends

The leaves will soon be falling and so will the temperatures, signaling the perfect time for every fashionable lady to hit the stores to check out the newest looks in fall fashion.
The time warp continues in misses fashion with the resurgence of popular fabrics, such as tweed, boucl?, and seude/moleskin. Influence from Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Jackie O, reflects ladies’ desire to return to the classic, dressy styles of yesteryear.
Boucl? jackets and dresses reveal an emphasis on femininity and present a polished look that has been largely missing from misses apparel during recent seasons.
Preppy fashion staples featuring prints such as argyle, plaid and houndstooth are also making a comeback in both tops and bottoms. The country club look defines this emerging trend with influence from traditional golf and tennis looks.
Woven shirts featuring stripes and polo collars, along with pleated skirts and plaid bottoms reflect a classic prep-school look.
The preppy influence also features classic menswear pattern separates that offer a feminine twist to traditional basics.
“Argyle and cashmere looks, along with a mixture of contrasting trims and color add a softer touch to classic separates,” explained clothing buyer Beth Colotta.
Shoes will follow the preppy trend with lower profile heels and rounded toes. Stretch remains a predominate feature, and feminine tailoring will replace the heavy-soled and platform-heeled shoes of recent seasons.
For the professional businesswoman, two-way stretch pants remain the top choice in career pants with extended tab, no-waist and side-zip styles. Pink remains an across-the-board favorite and professional misses’ fashion will feature the color in both solids and details.
Flirty, romantic skirts are a new trend in misses and feature shorter lengths, ruffle trim, flounce hems and pleats. Don’t forget the details! Buckles, buttons, bows and braid add an unique look that will dominate the office this fall.
Misses denim remains one of the few fashion basics unchanged for fall. Boot cut and stretch styles continue to be favorites among misses, while the classic five-pocket jean remains a must-have in women’s sizes. Fits are an important quality of misses denim and fall offers both relaxed and slim fit for maximum comfort.
“Lower rises that fall slightly below the waistline remain popular, but watch for a variety of tints including khaki and pink to make their way into many wardrobes this fall,” said clothing buyer Kelly Dougherty.
Fall football games are a perfect time to sport casual weekend wear featuring trendy tops and comfortable bottoms. Twill pants with stain repellent and wrinkle resistant performance qualities are a top pick for on-the-go ladies. No-waist stretch twill pants have been updated with a hidden elastic waistband, while microfiber drawstring pants are a new addition and can be worn as true activewear or as a comfortable basic pant.
Velour activewear sets and separates are great for the gym or just relaxing at home. Track jackets and hoodies are a comfortable alternative for ladies who seek a more casual, yet sporty look.
A woman’s job is to accessorize and fall looks feature the latest styles in jewelry and handbags. Traditional pearls make a classy statement for women of all ages. Earrings, necklaces and bracelets featuring colored gemstones can be matched to almost any outfit and add an element of style. Handbags continue to feature signature logos and vintage photographs, but small, preppy clutches will make an entrance into the fashion realm. One of the most notable trends is the reemergence of faux accessories.
“Faux fur will make a comeback in a variety of must-have accessories” said accessories buyer Angela Barrington. “From trimmed gloves and ponchos to sherpa-lined slippers, hats and animal-print bags, faux fur accessories will certainly accentuate any misses’ fall attire.”
