Feb. 24: Spay Day Tennessee 2004

Spay Day Tennessee 2004 will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, as part of the Doris Day Animal Foundation’s national campaign to promote the lifesaving benefits of spay/neuter. It will be sponsored in Franklin by five local veterinarians.

The local Spay Day event will allow pet owners to spay or neuter their pets for $10-$15. Pets must be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventive.

This year marks the 10th annual Spay Day USA, which is co-sponsored nationally by PETsMART Charities and Natural Life Products. Spay Day Tennessee 2004 is funded through grants to Knoxville-based Peaceful Kingdom from PETsMART Charities and the PetCo Foundation. Since Spay Day’s inception in 1995, participants have altered more than 1 million animals. With the help of spay/neuter programs like Spay Day, the number of homeless animals euthanized in the United States has fallen from approximately 13 million in 1973 to about 4 million currently.
