Spring’s on its way … But it’s not quite here yet
Warren County High School softball coach David Upton and his Lady Pioneers had plans of starting spring practice with a little twist this year, but mother nature had a little say-so in the Lady Pioneers’ schedule.
With the official start of spring practice to begin Feb. 16, Upton and his squad had planned to hit the field at 12:01 Monday morning for what is called in college basketball “Midnight Madness.” With the addition of lights this winter, the Lady Pioneers were planning a practice schedule which included a two-hour workout at midnight, followed by sleep, a wake-up call and breakfast early Monday morning. They then planned two practice sessions during the day with a lunch and supper break to conclude the opening of spring practice.
But due to the amount of snowfall, the Lady Pioneers had to settle for a three-hour workout in the Charlie Dalton Gym on Monday and another three-hour session on Tuesday.
Upton and the Lady Pioneers are hoping to hit the field later this week before they travel to Mt. Juliet on Saturday for a workday.
