Stubblefields mark 50th anniversary
The couple had met on a blind date. They are the parents of two sons, Michael Stubblefield, and the late Sammy Stubblefield, who was killed in an accident eight years ago. They have two grandchildren, Brandon and Justin.
Mr. Stubblefield served in the U.S. Army for two years and the couple retired four years ago after being self-employed for 40 years with Stubblefield Upholstery. They are members of the West Riverside church.
Son Michael was host for the reception to honor his parents and also to honor the memory of his deceased brother.
The honoree was attired in a burgundy two-pieced dress complemented by a gold nugget necklace that was made from a gold wedding ring given to her by her husband. A corsage of yellow roses was pinned at her shoulder and her husband wore a yellow rosebud boutonniere.
Three cakes supported by white columns at graduated heights were iced in white and decorated with yellow fondant roses. The uppermost tier was enhanced with a lace and tulle heart and 50th anniversary emblem. The base of the confection arrangement was loosely wrapped in white satin and trailing ivy with single metallic gold tapers placed at either side. Forming a backdrop for the lace-covered table was a screen of white fabric draped with a garland of greenery and metallic gold bows.
Serving the cake was Cindy Chandler while Brenda Hayes served the punch and accepted the gifts on behalf of the honored couple.
