Local squad takes second at Cookeville tournament

In SEAA tournament action last weekend, T&C Logging took home a second-place finish from the “Papa John’s Cookeville Classic IV.”

Coming back after a 15-8 loss to Team Tennessee in the first round of the double elimination tournament, T&C went on to beat two tough teams in the 16-and-under event.

T&C bested Horizon Concrete, from Watertown, 19-13, and went on to beat the Copperheads from neighboring Centertown, 11-8.

In their next game T&C drew a rematch with Team Tennessee, and came out on top 12-1 to force a play-off game. But the fatigue of three straight contests began to wear on the squad, and they fell to Team Tennessee by a close 16-14 margin as time was called.

The squad, in its second year of competition, headed to Tullahoma this weekend for the “Memorial Magic Tournament.” T&C is coached by Jim Hale, Tim Taylor and Randy Bess, and managed by Qwen Hildreth.
