Edith L. Bates, 87
Willoughby, Ohio resident and Warren County native Edith L. Bates, 87, died May 13 in Willoughby after an extended illness.
Retired from teaching after 55 years and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of Ben and Pearl Bates; and was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Moton Bates Jr. in 1998.
She is survived by sisters, Henrietta B. Curtis and Mary E. Ivy, both of Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul W. and Vernola Bates of Springfield, Ohio, Joseph B. Bates of Chicago, Ill., Jewel T. and Dorothy Bates of Dayton, Ohio, and James L. and Mayrene Bates of Fairfield, Calif.; sister-in-law, Vera Bates of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at High’s Chapel with Phillip Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at High’s.

Lemo Jewell Jones, 72
Spencer resident and Van Buren County native Lemo Jewell Jones, 72, died May 18 at Livingston Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
A homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Eliza Hillis Simmons.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Jones; sons and daughter-in-law, Austin Jones of Livingston, David and Debra Jones of Randolph, N.J.; grandchildren, Tate and Brent Jones; sisters, Sylvia Malugen and Emogene Hodges, both of McMinnville, Reba Gladden of Parrish, Ala., and Anna Haston of Bone Cave; and brother, James W. Simmons of Nashville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home Spencer Chapel with Thomas Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Town Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the Spencer Chapel.

Mable Frances Magouirk, 54
McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Mable Frances Magouirk, 54, died May 18 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.
An employee of Gardner Manufacturing and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of France and Martha Fults.
She is survived by her husband, Rex Magouirk; daughter, Loretta (Susie) Brinkley of Dechard; sons, Johnny Cheyenne Myers of Morrison and Jaromee Rex Magouirk of McMinnville; stepdaughters, Ruth Cleek of Palmer, Jone Ringlieb of Nashville, Margaret Hobbs of Florida, Janet Hobbs of McMinnville, Debra Garner of Palmer and Rhonda Smith of Pelham; stepson, Rex Allen Magouirk of Palmer; three grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Bartolo of Morrison; brother, Luther Don Fults of Morrison; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at High’s Chapel with burial following at Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today and again Monday at 10 a.m. at High’s.

Rosie Mildred Miller, 77
Murfreesboro resident and Lincoln County native Rosie Mildred Miller, 77, died May 17 at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Rehab Center after an extended illness.
A homemaker and a member of Grace Temple Assembly of God, she was the daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Mandy Parsley Gann; and was preceded in death by sons, Lonnie Mason Miller and Ronnie Junior Miller; brothers, Bobby Joe, William, Robert, James Howard and Monroe Gann; and sisters, Evelyn Mullins and Florence Elizabeth Gann.
She is survived by daughter, Linda Adcock of Murfreesboro; son, Kenneth Miller; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ben Gann of Smartt; sisters, Avis Rogers and Nannie Rogers, both of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with John W. Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Grange Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.
