Scissor artist Clay Rice to appear

All you see at first is the flash of the scissors dancing across the paper, the artwork of scissor artist Clay Rice coming to life. It is quite literally, performance art. More, it is a rare traditional artform brought dramatically to life.

Silhouette artist Clay Rice can be commissioned by appointment only Sat., March 11 at Attitudes, located in the Northgate Shopping Center.

?We are excited to have the opportunity to get such a talented scissor- artist in our store to do silhouettes. Clay Rice is only one in 30 worldwide artists in his field. After seeing his work in person, we thought the silhouettes would make great gifts for Mother?s Day, Grandparent?s Day or any special occasion.? said store owner Nedra Davenport. Clay is following in his grandfather, Carew Rice?s footsteps. He was a silhouette artist of international repute. There are approximately 30 such artists today, but few portray such a vast range of subjects and scences as does Clay Rice, or portray them so entertainingly.

The service is available to children of all ages and also to adults and only takes minutes to see one?s likeness appear from what was once a featureless sheet of paper. Appointments may be made by calling Nedra at 507-1080.
