‘Mr. Rutherford still isn’t playing fair with the taxpayers’ dollars. I am a self-employed business owner with my business being on Sparta Street. I also live in the county. Not only do I pay county taxes, I also pay city property taxes and city tangible personal property taxes. Why then should I be penalized for living in the county?
It appears more to me to be a case of a bunch of 2-year-olds crying for another child’s toy. Everyone who is using the pool should pay the same price. As Mr. Rutherford stated, those who use the pool should pay for it.’

‘What would happen if Wal-Mart started selling only to people who live in the city? Would their revenue be more or less? If you are open for business, volume is better.’

‘I think the increase is more than fair. County residents have been able to use the pool for many years at a discount since they didn’t have to pay taxes to fund it like the city residents did.’

‘The city is acting like a spoiled child who tries to get even if they don’t get their way. And with the economy in the shape it’s in right now, they should be trying to save every cent they can instead of wanting to spend, spend, spend. Was an indoor pool really necessary at this time? Everyone is struggling right now. I commend the county for not going with the city on the pool and keeping their budget intact.’
