FCE Club

Members of the Lucky Northside FCEC met Dec. 12 at the Bonnie Blue Inn for an 11 a.m. gathering. President Sandra Griffith conducted the meeting and welcomed Chandra Elkins, Hilda Lytle and Betty Grissom as guests.

Ila Vae Boren led the devotional by reading ‘Friends, Gods way of taking care of us,’ and Psalms 55,22. Roll call was answered by six members to ‘All I want for Christmas is. . . ‘ Secretary Irene Fuston read the November minutes, and Francis Holcomb gave the financial report.

Santa’s Workshop was held on Dec. 10, with Linda Schlimmer, Nelle Roller, Fuston and Griffith attending. Food was collected for the food bank, as well as new toys for the rescue squad.

The county quilt information case will be mounted in place in January. County Council officers will now serve for a two-year term. Serving on the 2008 Council will be, president, Margaret Carr; first vice-president of programs, Wilma Davenport; second vice-president of public policy, Beulah McBee; secretary, Irene Fuston; treasurer, Sandra Griffith; and chaplain, Annis Hill.

Club members chose a young, special-needs girl to sponsor for Christmas. We purchased outfits, shoes, a coat and items to make her holiday extra special. The project was completed in the spirit of the season.

Following the meeting, members toured the inn and enjoyed a delicious lunch of soup, sandwiches, marinated vegetables, dessert, fruit tea and coffee. A lovely Christmas tree displayed in the foyer welcomed guests, as holiday music was presented.

The next club meeting will be the fourth Thursday in January at the home of Irene Fuston beginning at 11 a.m.
