Song-filled night to help Families In Crisis
Get ready for some picking and grinning as some of Warren County?s most talented musical performers are scheduled to take the stage when Families in Crisis presents the 7th annual Songwriter?s Night to be held Friday, April 13 at McMinnville Civic Center. The event is from 5-9:30 p.m.
Wayne Wolford of Young Men United will emcee the event and Jonathan Womack will provide sound engineering.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 in advance by calling 473-6611, or at the door for $12. As usual, Prater?s BBQ is providing some of its famous, and delicious, food and dinner is included in the ticket price.
All proceeds will go to fund the Families in Crisis shelter, which provides housing and other services for victims of domestic violence.
FIC director Sheila Lee says this year promises to be another great event with an evening filled with good humor and great music, including a tribute to country music superstar, and Warren County native, Dottie West, performed by noted local singer Clair Cochran.
?As you can tell by the program we?ve got some terrific people lined up,? Lee said. ?All of our performers are local and it?s an eclectic blend of entertainment. We have everything from old time southern gospel, to contemporary gospel, from traditional to contemporary country, we?ve got a musical style to suit everyone.?
This year?s show will have a unique feature along with some of the musical performances, according to Lee ? live sign language accompaniment.
?With the contemporary gospel, when Joe Stotts performs, Stephanie Sauer from NHC will actually sign the lyrics along with him. Stephanie has a youth ministry and signs contemporary Christian music. She has agreed to sign for Joe when he sings so we can reach all aspects of the audience.?
This year?s program will also reach out to the Hispanic community.
?Alicia Lara, a young Hispanic lady who sings Christian music, is going to sing for us,? Lee said. ?We?re hoping to have some in Spanish and some in English. Everyone who has heard her says she has a beautiful voice.?

Families in Crisis wants to thank all of their sponsors, who have donated so graciously, for their support. The project is also being funded in part by Tennessee Arts Commission Arts Builds Communities (ABC) grant.
