MCC spring scrambles begin
Golfers at the McMinnville Country Club have been taking advantage of the warm weather, hitting the links with several scrambles taking place last week.
In Tuesday’s scramble the foursome of Brandon Hodges, Corker DeLoach Jr., Austin Fairchild and Gary Griffin took first place.
Over the weekend first place in the first flight of the two-person scramble went to Gene Ritz and Brad Brock. Bobby Taylor and Mike Hitchcock won the second flight, while Steve Biles and Whit Taylor finished second. Winning the third flight was the team of Brent Crouch and Kenny Neal. Second place went to Mo Hobbs and Lee Sperlazza, while Dennis Ringgenberg and Delbert Ray finished third.
In the senior scramble, the team of Sam Martin, Dickie Morton, Vernon Powers and Doug Hill took first place.
Leslie Delan won the Ladies Day event. Joyce Madison was second. Lynn Jacobs, Kathryn Phifer and Michelle Dodson finished tied for third.
Austin Fairchild aced the No. 7 par 3 on Saturday, hitting his 150-yard shot into a stiff wind.
Tourney to benefit Relay for Life set for May 17 at CRGC
Homeland Community Bank will be sponsoring a golf tournament to help benefit the local American Cancer Society Relay for Life program on May 17 at the Collins River golf course.
The tournament will be a four-man scramble, with first, second and third flights being awarded.
Entry fee is $75 per person or $300 per team. Hole sponsorships are available.
The round will kick off at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Entry fee includes driving range, 18 holes, golf cart and lunch.
