Middle school golfers open 2008 campaign
Warren County Middle School’s golfers opened their season last week, taking on both Coffee County Middle and Manchester Westwood.
The Pioneers came away with a victory in the three-team match, topping their closest competitor by eight strokes, while the Lady Pioneers fell just short, losing to the Lady Raiders of Coffee County by six.
Parker Lynn had the low score of the day for WCMS, carding a 51 to lead his team to a combined score of 235. Tucker Lynn shot a 57, Eric Cantrell had a 60 and John Martin added a 67 to make up the team tally.
Coffee County shot a 243, with Andy Stout’s 45 leading the team and also counting as the low overall round of the day. Westwood, which finished with a team score of 264, was led by Bobby Cooley’s 59.
On the girls’ side, Westwood only had one player, Devin Green, who shot a 61 which tied for the low girls’ round of the afternoon. Gracie Jarrell of Coffee County had the other 61, while Kolby Hopkins had a 65 for a team score of 126.
The Lady Pioneers were led by Holly Morgan, who had a 65, while Rylan Curtis added a 67 for a team score of 132.
