Rutledge earns child development award
Warren County School System Employee of the Month for January, Lecredia Rutledge, was recently awarded a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in recognition of outstanding work with young children. The credential was awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which represents the early childhood education profession.
In her nomination letter, Rutledge was lauded by Eastside teacher Susan Grandey for her job performance as well as receiving the CDA certificate.
‘Lecredia puts her whole heart into her job as Eastside’s Pre-K assistant. You can tell by stepping into the classroom that she loves working with the children, as well as portraying her role as the Pre-K assistant,’ Grandey said. ‘Lecredia is always on top of the next step in what needs to be done, not only in the classroom with the children, but with preparations for the classroom as well. She usually has the job done before I can even mention it to her. She has great ideas for classroom activities as well.’
CDA is the only major national effort to improve early childhood education and care by evaluation and recognition of the skills of individuals providing care. The first credential was awarded over 30 years ago, and now 49 states, plus the District of Columbia, include CDA in their childcare licensing regulations.
