Charles Earl Maybery, 72

McMinnville resident and Jackson County native Charles Earl Maybery, age 72, was born June 18, 1935 and died Jan. 28 ,2008 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.

A former employee of General Telephone and owner of Maybery Mercantile, he was the son of the late Howard Farley and Lillie Ann Chaffin Mayberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Horace, Thomas and Harold Mayberry and three sisters, Beulah Bowman, Velva Holland and Martha Elise Mayberry.

He was married Nov. 22, 1956 to Joyce Johnson Maybery of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard Earl and Shirley Maybery of Smithville and Edward Lee and Rene Maybery of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Rose and Terry Fisher of Hendersonville; daughter-in-law, Janie Russell of the Centertown Community; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifton and Faye Mayberry of Cookeville and Sheldon and Louise Mayberry of Baxter; three sisters, Lural Dunn and Jean Roberts of Cookeville and Eloris Hensley of Columbia and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at noon today in High’s Chapel with Harold Jones and Coy Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery in Gainesboro at 2 p.m. today. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at High’s.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
