Perfection continues for WCMS

The undefeated streak continues for the Warren County Middle School boys varsity team after the Pioneers picked up a 50-41 road win over Franklin County North Thursday night. The Pioneers improved to 11-0 in Central Tennessee Conference play.

The Gators put 11 points on the board in the opening period with the help Trey Henshaw and Garrett Heatherly who had one 3-pointer each. Jacob Reagan answered for the Pioneers squad with a pair of 3-pointers. Mitchell McCorkle added a basket and 3-pointer. Justin Ware and Micah McColloch hit for one bucket each as WCMS took a 16-11 lead.

Second-period action saw Franklin County step things up on offense as Heatherly netted seven of the Gators 16 points. WCMS put 14 points on the board as Hunter Daniel collected five points including a 3-pointer. Hunter Adams pitched in six points to help the Pioneers maintain a 30-27 lead at the break.

In the third period both teams struggled on offense. Warren County’s defense held the Gators to seven points as Henshaw hit a 3-pointer. Warren County worked hard to put points on the board. Reagan, Ware, Adams and McCorkle hit one bucket each to help put nine points on the board to take a 39-34 lead into the final period.

Warren County secured the win in the final period by out-scoring the Gators 12-7. Daniel hit a pair of baskets and Reagan added three points from the line after hitting three-of-six. Thomas Locke added a bucket for the Pioneer victory.

For the Pioneers, Reagan netted 12 points. Daniel and McCorkle added 12 points each. Adams had eight, Ware netted five, McCollouch and Locke hit for two points each.

Heatherly led the Gators with 13 points. James Stovall had 11, Tyler Henley added nine and Henshaw scored eight.
