Walter Christy Pap Harber, 93
Born in Pennington Gap, Va., on Dec. 1, 1914, he was the son of the late George E. and Glessie Vanhuss Harber; and was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Vivian Lane Harber. He was a very active member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church and was retired after 40 years with TVA.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Walter L. and Jamie Harber; grandson, Walter Lane Harber Jr. and his wife, Karis of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter, Melody Counts and her husband Marc of Johnson City, Christy Haskins and husband David of Chattanooga, Jami McMullen and husband Scott of Johnson City; and Lindi Scharfstein and husband Benjie of Piney Flats; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. today at Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Johnson City with Rev. Curtis Hurt officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until time of service today. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Monday in Washington County Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Grace Free Will Baptist Church building fund, 2110 Knob Creek Road, Johnson City, Tenn., 37604.
