Another city administrator finalist out
One finalist down, two to go, and another one out of the race.
While city administrator hopeful Glenn Abee is set to be interviewed today at 4 p.m. at McMinnville City Hall, another of the finalists has removed his name from consideration.
Richard Clark of Jefferson Hills, Pa., informed city officials yesterday he is no longer interested in the job. Clark reportedly called Mayor Royce Davenport and said his wife had injured herself in a fall which would hamper his ability to relocate.
Clark is the second of five finalists to decline the position before being interviewed. Jeffery LaGarce removed his name from consideration last week.
Abee is out of Clarksville, Tenn. He spent nine years with Montgomery County from November, 1997 to September, 2006. In that time, he has served as the director of human resources, then as director of administration and development following the devastating tornado of 1999 which displaced 21 of the county?s 34 governmental departments.
As for education, he has a master?s in public administration and a bachelor?s of science.
From his introduction letter:
?As the director of administration, I was the county mayor?s (chief elected official) right hand, serving as chief adviser to the 21-member county commission while still maintaining ultimate responsibility for human resources and risk management.?
Abee was instrumental in the rebuilding efforts after the 1999 tornado. He assisted efforts that led to a $12 million rebuild of the Historic Montgomery County Courthouse and a $26 million new courts center, as well as implementing a $30 million law enforcement center and jail expansion.
The interview of Donald Whitman is still scheduled for Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. Barry Baker of Loudon, Tenn., interviewed last night.
