FCE Club: Vinson’s Crossroads

Vinson’s Crossroads FCE Club met Aug. 18 in the Magnolia Room. Lois Self and Eva Taylor served as hostesses for the monthly meeting. President Self called the meeting to order and welcomed Sandra Cantrell to the gathering.

Naomi Smith conducted a devotional by reading scripture from James 5:7-8. She also read “A Farmers Wife” and led a prayer. The pledge to the flag was led by Self and roll call was given by Nelle Roller. Members responded by answering to “One thing I plan to enter in the fair is. . . “

Minutes of the July meeting were read and approved as read. Dues were paid for the new year. Several household hints were given by Self, including how to clean silver with toothpaste.

The club sent a memorial gift to Mrs. Terry Broxton on the passing of her husband. The September meeting will be held at the fairgrounds.

Refreshments were served by he hostesses. The club will work at the Country Store in Fairfield Village, possibly Tuesday. Fair booth working time is Thursday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m.

Family Life training will be Aug. 31 and a county council meeting will be held Sept. 21. The meeting was adjourned by reciting the club creed in unison.
