7-8 girls coach-pitch: Castle Heights rises above Hoover & Son

Monday night in the girls 7- and 8-year-old coach-pitch league on the Pete Holt Field, Castle Heights rolled past Hoover and Son Insurance 17-2.

Castle Heights sent seven runs across the plate in the first and seven more in the second and capped off the night with a three run third. Hoover scored one run in the third and one in the fourth. Castle Heights ripped 24 hits on the night including a homerun by Katie Tubb. Hannah Hardcastle and Harley Daivs led the winners with three hits each and two RBI’s each. Tubb, Haley Bennett, Sarah Owens, Celia Boyd, Katelyn Lester, Mallory Foster and Alexis Wanamaker had two hits each. MaKayla Stubblefield and Maya Denning added one hit each. For Hoover’sSamantha Weeter, Alana Ortiz and Kaylee Hillis had two hits each. Madison Todd, Sara Panter and Justice Woodside had one hit each.

  • In other action, Kirby Real Estate slipped past U.S. Equipment 14-12. Stacey Arnold had a homerun for Kirby, while Lindsay Skinner and Camerie Martin had one each for U.S. Equipment. For Kirby, Katelynn Cammack and Isabel Kirby had four hits each. Arnold, Trista Key, Toni Bell, Liza Harvey and Savanah Darnbush had three hits each. Macayla Ferrell added two hits. For U.S. Haley McColoch, Skinner, Camerie Martin, Allie Golden, Rylee Hilliard andAlyson Caten had two hits each. Erica Cantrell, Mila Lance and Martin added one hit each. Kirby scored six in the first inning, one in the second, five in the third and two in the fourth. U.S. scored eight in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth.
