Irene Rains, 86

McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Irene Rains, 86, died March 29 at River Park Hospital.

A homemaker, a retired cook with Hillcrest Restaurant and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of Will and Vernie Farless Summers; and was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Warden Rains in 1977; and son, Larry Arnold Rains.

She is survived by daughters, Melba Stanley and Velma Glenn, both of McMinnville; grandchildren, Rhonda Elkins of Quebeck, Lee Hennessee and Amanda Stanley, both of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Monica and Dustin Elkins of Quebeck, Alexander, Wesley and Natalie Hennessee, all of McMinnville; sister, Hazel Pirtle of Nashville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at High’s Chapel with Fred Jacklett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at High’s.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
