John Ocie Stiles, 94

A retired employee of Brown Root Construction and a member of the Church of Christ, American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064, he was the son of H.B. and Maggie Ellen Thomison Stiles; and was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Scott Stiles; brother, Gentry Stiles; and sisters, Mae Moore and Willie Cantrell.
He is survived by his wife, Sophia Stiles of Spencer; daughters, Johnnie Sue Stiles, Dot Cathy and Elsie Newby, all of McMinnville, and Reba Hodge of Jonesboro; stepdaugthers, Mildred Hillis and Sonya Wood, both of Spencer, and Brenda Cantrell of McMinnville; stepsons, J.L. McReynolds of Spencer, and Joe McReynolds of McMinnville; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, N.B. and Ross Stiles of McMinnville, Charles Stiles of Murfreesboro and Fred Thomas Stiles of McMinnville; sisters, Ruth McGee, Thelma Glenn and Mildred Duke, all of McMinnville and Betty Sue Preston of Crossville; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at High’s Chapel with James Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
