Alvin Gray McCormick, 76
Quebeck resident and Warren County native Alvin Gray McCormick, 76, died unexpectedly Sept. 15 at White County Community Hospital in Sparta.

Retired from the civil service and space program where he helped put the first man on the moon, he served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1946-50.

The son of Melvina Delaney McCormick of Campaign and the late Johnny McCormick, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy R. Curisma in 1997.

He is survived by daughters, Anna McCandless of Hawaii, Lorane Ehasz of Loraine, Ohio, Leilani Quilinderino of Hawaii, Patsy Frazier of Morrison, and Wanda Roark of Quebeck; sons, Stanley, Larry, Wayne, Nelson and Ray McCormick, all of Hawaii, Harry McCormick of Manchester and Paul McCormick of Quebeck; 43 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Roberts of Indiana, Shirley Elmore of South Carolina and Carol Rodorker of Arizona; and brothers, Johnny McCormick Jr. of Rock Island, Malcolm and Franklin McCormick, both of Quebeck, Norman McCormick of Irving College, Nolan McCormick of Midway, Jimmy McCormick of Campaign, Harry and Billy McCormick, both of Indiana, and Eddie McCormick of Bone Cave; uncle, Billy Delaney of Doyle; special friend, Betty Brock of Quebeck; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at High’s Chapel with Steve Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at High’s.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
