Candidates assigned delegates

Warren County Democrats, meeting recently in caucus at the county administrative building, selected their presidential-nominating candidates, subject to election at the 4th Congressional District conclave to be held here this Saturday.

The 4th District caucus, which is expected to draw more than 300 delegates from 24 Midstate counties and a portion of Williamson County, will select from the local candidates the limited number of national delegates awarded to the top three presidential hopefuls in Tennessee’s recent state primary.

Based on their respective vote tallies in the 4th District, the candidates are apportioned the following numbers of pledged delegates to the national convention in Boston July 26-29: Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry – one man, one woman; North Carolina Sen. John Edwards – one man, one woman; retired four-star Army General and former NATO commander Wesley Clark – one man and one female alternate delegate, Davis said.

According to lists furnished by local Democratic officials, the following are the county’s pledged delegates to the 4th District caucus:

For Kerry: Jennie P. Stewart, Paula Wanamaker, Jeanette Rogers, Royal Chisam, Diane Starkey, Debbie Glenn, Joe Kuhn, Justin Collier, Stephen Glenn, Cory Smith, Addie Fults, Jean Rogers and Willma Young.

For Clark: Tom Miller, Carolyn Miller, Kenneth Rogers, Lynn Smith, Bill Yancy, William Tom Scott, Rad Spivey, Martha Smartt, Ernest T. Morton, Ozle Allen, Twana Smith, Paula Collier, Robert Collier, Paul D. Davis, Terry Smith and Patricia J. Davis.
