April 3: NCCJ ‘Walk As One’ planned
The Walk As One is a symbolic walk across the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge that will conclude with a celebration of Nashville’s diversity at the Country Music Hall Fall. The post-Walk celebration will occur in the park between the Hall of Fame and Downtown Hilton and will feature musical performances.
Proceeds from the Walk help support NCCJ’s youth and community leadership programs in Nashville. BellSouth is the presenting sponsor for this year’s Walk and Kenny Blackburn, vice president of external affairs for BellSouth, has been named chair of the Walk.
Blackburn was recently honored by the NCCJ, receiving the NCCJ Human Relations Award in 2003. He has served and been honored by numerous organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy and the American Cancer Society. In 1999, he was named “Father of the Year” by the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Other sponsors for this year’s Walk As One include Allstate, American Airlines, Ingram Industries, Taco Bell, Vanderbilt University and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
