McMinnville resident and Plankstadp, Germany native Elvira Elizabeth Holt, 79, died Feb. 1 at NHC Healthcare.
A homemaker and a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness in Woodbury, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Freda Schuchmacher; and was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Issac Holt.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, June and James Jones of McMinnville; son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Debra Holt of McMinnville; grandchildren, Jerry Holt, John Robert Jones and Jessica Marie Jones; and great-grandchildren, Nicki Holt and Trey Holt.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness in Woodbury with Jerry Farless officiating. Visitation will be held following services at the church.

Jimmy Wayne Markum, 61
McMinnville resident and Cannon County native Jimmy Wayne Markum, 61, died Jan. 29 at his home after an extended illness.
An auto salesman with Jennings Motors for 23 years, a former member of the Woodbury Lions Club and a member of First Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Willie L. and Ola Mae Bailey Markum.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Smith Markum; daughter and son-in-law, Lesa Markum and Mark Davis of Woodbury; sisters, Jearldean Long and Glenda Davenport, both of Woodbury; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Christine Smith of McMinnville; and special friends, Terri and Kevin Guess, Tammi and Brian Shaffer, and Dr. Leon Reuhland.
Services were held Sunday at Woodbury Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Bray officiating. Burial followed at Blues Hill Cemetery.

Wilma Irene Dodd, 67
Lebanon resident formerly of McMinnville Wilma Irene Dodd, 67, died Jan. 31 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after an extended illness.
A retired bank teller with City Bank & Trust Company, she was the daughter of George and Lena Mae Busey Weatherby; and was preceded in death by son, James Welden Jr.; and brother, Gordon Weatherby.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Pame and Mike Rosson of Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Karen Dodd of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Nicole Curtis of McMinnville and Garret Dodd of Murfreesboro; two great-grandchildren; sister, Bettye Weatherby Jones of Lebanon; and brother, George Weatherby Jr. of Lebanon.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Shellsford Cemetery with Josh Bassinger officiating.

Jesse Thomas Walling, 84
Chattanooga resident and Warren County native Jesse Thomas Walling, 84, died Feb. 3 at Memorial North Park Hospital in Hixson after an extended illness.
A retired employee of Gulf Oil and a member of Red Bank Church of Christ, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
The son of Edgar W. and Lila Estelle Blue Walling Sr., he was preceded in death by brothers, Winton and Edgar Walling Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mt. View Cemetery with Harold Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:45 p.m. today at High’s.

Ralph E. O’Neal, 82
Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio resident and Concord, Tenn., native Ralph E. O’Neal, 82, died Jan. 31 at Manor Care Health Services in Willoughby, Ohio.
A parts inspector with TRW in Euclid, Ohio, retiring in 1982, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 5064, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
The son of the late Carl and Sarah Woody O’Neal, he was preceded in death by sisters, Rena Hamby and Janie Ellis; and brother, Nelson O’Neal.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Arlene Davidson O’Neal; sons, Larry O’Neal of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, son and spouse Darrell and Kimberly O’Neal of Eastlake, Ohio; stepdaughter and spouse, Darleen and Lynn Smith of Willoughby; stepsons and spouses, Terry and Charlotte Davidson of Gales Ferry, CT., Richard and Dreama Davidson of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; sister and spouse, Mildred and Clyde Wright of Oak Ridge.
Services were held Tuesday at Davis Funeral Home in Willoughby with Rev. Robert A. Gaston officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Plains Road Cemetery in Willoughby. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Western Reserve Inc., 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060.

Virgil Ray Tenpenny, 91
Woodbury resident and Cannon County native Virgil Ray Tenpenny, 91, died Feb. 1 after a short illness.
A retired farmer and painter and a member of Woodbury Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Delter and Clara Northcutt Tenpenny.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sammye Milligan Tenpenny; children and their spouses, Jo Ellen and Terry Davenport of Smyrna, Josh and Barbara Tenpenny of Winchester, Kathy McDowell of Nashville, Maxine and Bobby Bates of Centertown; grandchildren and their spouses, Teresa Jo and Todd Tarkington, David and Beth Davenport, Denise and Tommy Stone, Marlene and Jason Cowan, Lyle and Liz Tenpenny, Curtis and Amanda McDowell, Christopher and Andrew Bates; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Braden Davenport, Meredith Tarkington, Charlie Stone and Olivia Cowan.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Woodbury Funeral Home Chapel with Odell Powell, Tommy Stone and Curtis McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Leoni Cemetery.

Mildred Agnes VanHooser Foster, 90
McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Mildred Agnes VanHooser Foster, 90, died Feb. 3 at her home after an extended illness.
A retired employee of Formfit Rogers and a member of Charles Creek Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late John Lawson and Minnie Lee Holt Pirtle; and was preceded in death by her first husband, William Lee VanHooser; second husband, Howard Foster; brothers, Everette Pirtle and J.L. Pirtle; and sisters, Bessie Stewart and Gladys Blum.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Gail VanHooser of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Billy McBee of Sewanee; grandchildren, Kathryn and Bill Hopkins of Nashville, Julia and Alan George, Ranse and Kaye VanHooser, and Michael McBee, all of McMinnville; Nancy and Craig Doman of Murfreesboro, Eddie and Sue McBee of Manchester, Janice McBee of Monteagle and Rachel McBee of Winchester; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Pirtle of Greenfield, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. until time of service Friday at Love-Cantrell & Cope.
