Mason couple feted on anniversary

The golden wedding anniversary of Billy and Violet Cates Mason was celebrated Sept. 7 at an old-fashioned cookout held at the Mt. Zion Road home of the couple’s son, Tony Mason and his wife, Cindy.

The celebrants are also the parents of two daughters, Angela Mason and Connie Zahn and have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Jesse Dean Steakley.

Violet Mason is the daughter of the late Samuel and Hassie Bell Green Cates and her husband is the son of the late L.E. and Anna Bell Tanner Mason.

For the occasion, the honoree was attired in a green and beige silk blouse with a jewel neckline and three-quarter length sleeves and beige linen skirt complimented with a white rose corsage. Mr. Mason wore a white rose boutonniere.

The food table was decorated to emphasize the golden anniversary theme, using festive white and gold balloons. A white layer cake was trimmed in peach, green and gold along with a 50th anniversary emblem.

Joining the honored couple and their children to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the cookout were David Zahn, Charles Morgan, Tara Rhea, Brandon and Jesse Steakley.
