Haile, Richardson win Spring Fling
The 36-hole annual event, played Saturday and Sunday, was divided into five flights, with Haile and Richardson tallying a two-day total of 127, carding a 65 in the first round and a 62 in the second.
Bill Locke and Tommy Simms finished second at 129, Brent Brock and Gary Maxwell came in third at 133, and Jeff Wolaver and Greg Brock took fourth, combining for a 133 and finishing behind Brock and Maxwell in a playoff.
In the first flight, Chad and Maurice Burger came out on top with a 136. Jonathan and Mickey Heath came away with second after tying the third-place team of Andy Jacobs and Paul Moore. Both teams finished with a 137.
Mark Hitchcock and Chad Newby were fourth after three teams finished at 138. Joe Evans and Tim Brock took fifth, and Gene Ritz and Roger Quirin were sixth.
The second flight was won by Mark Seymour and John Perdue, with a 142. Bobby Taylor and Bob Jones tied Hansford Fairchild and Rob Marshall, with each team finishing with a 143 and Taylor/Jones winning the playoff. Rick Barnes and Harlan Holmes brought in a 144 to take fourth.
Todd Herzog and Don Collette won a playoff over Pat Green and Gene Sparkman to take first place in the third flight, after each duo finished at 148. W.T. Mullican and Barry Lannon were third, winning a playoff over Butch Bullen and Roger Jacobs. Both teams finished in 149.
Webber Cantrell and Wayne Grissom also had a 149, but after the playoff ended up with a first-place finish in the fourth flight. Keith Maxwell and Michael Page were second at 150, Alan Lynn and Carl Newman were third at 151, and Andy Link teamed with David High to take fourth at 153.
On Friday the ladies scramble was held, with the four-person team of LaMaine Martin, Brenda Hanley, Jamie Beard and Kathy Womack coming in with a 68 to take first place. Tori Ritz, Carolyn Phifer, Peggy Layman and Linda Ray were second, carding a 69.
