Martin named volleyball squad’s MVP
The Warren County High School Volleyball team named Courtney Martin its 2001 Most Valuable Player Friday.
Martin, a sophomore, was chosen by her teammates as this year’s winner of the Luna MVP award. As a freshman she earned honorable mention on the All-District team, and this year was chosen as first team 7-AAA All-District.
Martin will be one of three returning starters who will be juniors next year that coach Franklin Fisher is counting on to give his team some leadership and depth to his young team.
“Courtney is a very hard worker and a good athlete that still has not realized her true ability in volleyball,” he said. “She could become a very dominating figure as an outside hitter and middle blocker and she has two more years to develop her game.
“I’m very proud of what Courtney has accomplished over the past two years and know we still have great things to look forward to.”
