Football’s lift-a-thon Tuesday

Members of the Warren County High School football squad will put their muscles to the test Tuesday night in the Football Lift-a-thon at the Charlie Dalton Gym.

In the Lift-a-thon, members of the varsity team will perform the bench press and hang clean lifts for a max on what they have termed a “show-off” night.

“This is a fun event, and it gives the guys something to work toward while their conditioning during the off-season,” said Pioneer head coach Gerald Tidwell. “We’re looking forward to packing the gym with a large, rowdy crowd, and getting the place rocking.”

While the Pioneers attempt to set personal records, each player will be competing for trophies in his grade class, which will be awarded at the end of the performance.

And while the players can come away with trophies, the WCHS students in attendance have the chance to come away with some cold, hard cash.

Each student in attendance will be given a number as he or she enters the gym. At the conclusion of the weight-lifting competition, a number will be drawn and that student will be given a $100 bill. Only WCHS students will be eligible for the drawing.

Tuesday’s events begin at 7 p.m., and admission is free to the public.
