Gracy Holland Tanner, 76
McMinnville resident and native Gracy Holland Tanner, 76, died April 18 at her home after an extended illness.
A machine operator with McMinnville Garment Company and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, she was the daughter of Thomas Lee and Jennie Holland; and was preceded in death by her husband, Chester (Jake) Tanner.
She is survived by son, Clyde L. Tanner of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Teddie Tanner of McMinnville; granddaughters, Cherri Van Akin of Atlanta, Crystal Clemons and Caren Graham, both of McMinnville; brothers, Robert Holland of Cleveland, Ohio, and Roy Holland of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Opal Tanner of McMinnville and Pearl Schroeder of Dennison, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Larry Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery.

Marlene Faye Burke, 60
McMinnville resident and Stambaugh, Mich., native Marlene Faye Burke, 60, died April 19 at her home after an extended illness.
A plant manager at Great Western Manufacturing Company and a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Helen Sharrard Ponozzo.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Burke; daughters, Louise White of Livingston and Janet McGee of McMinnville; son, Jim Burke of Chattanooga; sister, Beverly Dunk of Waukesha, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church with Father Jim Bretl officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at McMinnville Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at McMinnville Funeral Home.

Ida Lee Gum, 88
McMinnville resident and Sparta native Ida Lee Gum, 88, died April 19 at Raintree Manor after an extended illness.
A retired hair dresser and the oldest cosmetologist in the state of Tennessee, a member of the American Legion and VFW ladies auxiliaries and the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of W.D. and Mary Fowler Dodson; and was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Gum.
She is survived by sister, Imogene Haston of McMinnville; niece, Dorothy Basham of Morrison; great-nephews, Jerry and Jimmy Basham of Rock Island, Ricky and Steve Basham, Don and Darrell Bost, all of McMinnville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Nestor Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of the service today at High’s.

David Wayne Piper, 40
Woodbury resident and Madison native David Wayne Piper, 40, died April 16.
An attorney, a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Law, and an elder with Woodbury Seventh Day Adventist Church, he was the son of Julius and Rachel Ramsey Piper of Finley, Okla., and the son-in-law of Dr. William Bryant.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bryant Piper; son, David Bryant Piper of Woodbury; stepdaughters, Amanda and Lindsay Wagner of Woodbury; grandparents, Velma Rose Heberer of Gridley, Calif.; and brother, Charles Frank (Shorty) Piper of Kirksville, Mo.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Woodbury Seventh Adventist Church with Pastor Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the church.
