Peterson to speak at Boyd banquet
|
Peterson, one of the most decorated high school players in the state of North Carolina, was a Parade and McDonald’s All-America selection coming out of Asheville High School. He was named the North Carolina Player of the Year and Athlete of the Year as a senior, finishing in both awards ahead of runner-up and future college roomate, Michael Jordan.
Following his collegiate career, Peterson was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and played professionally in Belgium. He has been a head coach at Appalachian State University and Tulsa University prior to taking over the reins of the Vols, and has posted a 105-50 career record.
“We are fortunate and delighted to have this fine, successful coach as our featured speaker,” said Boyd president C.N. Womack.
The tailgate party portion of the Spring Banquet will begin at 6 p.m., with the banquet itself to begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets for this special occasion are available from G.B. Greene, Thorold Ramsey, David Mayfield, Eva Ferrell and C.N. Womack. Those interested in attending can also contact the school at 473-9631 for any further information.
