One more meth manufacturing lab discovered

A meth lab was found Friday in the same building which houses Marc’s Market, located between the densely populated Cotten and Buckingham apartment complexes.

The suspect, James Johnston, was arrested on meth manufacturing charges Friday afternoon after McMinnville Police Narcotics Investigator Tony Jenkins found what is described as a small clandestine lab inside Johnson’s second-story apartment.

According to McMinnville Police Lt. Investigator Derwin Adcock, the lab was located upstairs from Marc’s Market. Police say Johnston was renting the apartment from the property owners and they do not believe the business or its management had anything to do with the lab.

The lab was found after lawmen received information that drugs were being made inside the apartment. Police made their move Friday afternoon after conducting surveillance.

“Tony walked up and knocked on Mr. Johnson’s door and asked him about it and then was given permission to search the apartment,” Adcock said. “We found a lab and small amount of what we believe is finished product.”

The lab is the fourth found in Warren County in a week and the third found in the city.
