Whipple bound for assault charges

A 71-person docket was heard Tuesday by Judge Larry Ross in General Sessions Court. Included in court action:

• Troy Whipple was bound over to the grand jury on charges of aggravated assault, domestic assault, resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, evading arrest, vandalism, possession of an explosive device, and possession of drugs. He is charged for allegedly beating his wife and then running her over with a car. Police said they found what appeared to be a homemade bomb on his person when he was arrested.

• Chris Elrod was bound over to the grand jury on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and vandalism.

• Barry Wilson was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of assault.

• Larry Woods was ordered to serve five days of a six-month sentence and attend conflict management courses for domestic assault.

• Brad Julian was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of manufacture of drugs.

• Tracy Leon Nelson was issued a six-month probationary sentence and must perform 16 hours public service work and pay $500 plus costs for simple possession of drugs.

• Donna Samples was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of manufacture, sale or delivery of drugs.

• Kurt Hetrick was given a six-month probationary sentence and must pay $250 plus costs and perform 16 hours public service work for simple possession of marijuana.

• Jerry Wayne Roberts was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of theft over $1,000.

• Angie Merriman was handed an 11-29 probationary sentence and must perform 24 hours public service work and pay restitution for theft over $1,000.

• Angela Walker was given a six-month probationary sentence and must pay $10 plus costs for passing two worthless checks totaling $80.

• Bryan Curtis was handed a six-month probationary sentence and must pay $20 plus costs for passing two worthless checks totaling $174.

• Jimmy Lee Phillips was given a six-month probationary sentence and must pay $10 plus costs and perform eight hours public service work for passing a worthless check for $49.

• Christie Hernandez was granted a six-month judicial diversion and must pay $10 plus costs for passing a worthless check for $35.

• Clifford Phifer was fined $10 plus costs for disorderly conduct.

• Kirk Wayne Wilson was fined $10 plus costs and must perform eight hours public service work for public intoxication.

• James Manus must serve 48 hours and pay $10 plus costs for public intoxication.

• April Herrington was fined $50 plus costs for consumption of alcohol under the age of 21. She must write a letter and have her picture put in the paper or face five days in jail.

• Juan Juarez Cruces and Scotty Joe Morton were fined $10 plus costs for public intoxication.

• Charles West was fined $20 plus costs and must perform 16 hours public service work for public intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident.

• Thurman Crisp was bound over to the grand jury on the charge of driving on a suspended license.

• Steve Roach must serve 48 hours for violation of probation.

• Gary Cagle must serve 30 days and have his probation extended by six months for violation of probation.

• Melissa Jaime must serve 48 hours for violation of probation.

• Charles Hill must perform 32 hours public service work and have his probation extended by three months for violation of probation.

• Paul Muncey must serve 24 days for failure to perform court ordered public service work.

Clarifications

• Roy Haley of Old Harrison Ferry Road, an employee of A.O. Smith, is not the Roy Haley on the court docket.

• Shawn Underwood Smith of Pigeon Hill Road is not the Shawn Smith on the docket March 5 on drug charges.
