Local teen confesses to pawn shop burglary
A local teen busted for shoplifting in Murfreesboro has linked himself and two of his friends to last month’s break-in at Kwik Kash Pawn in which several guns were stolen.
The suspects, whose names are being withheld by police due to their underage status, are all students at Warren County High School.
They are charged with breaking into Kwik Kash Pawn on Chancery Street last month. The boys reportedly entered the business by breaking out a side window. Once inside, they used a shotgun found inside the store to smash a display case and steal four handguns.
The break in the case came this week when one of the teens was arrested for shoplifting at the Murfreesboro Target store. Police found one of the guns taken in the Kwik Kash burglary on his person. The boy ultimately confessed to the burglary and implicated his two friends. The other boys also later confessed, according to McMinnville Police Investigator Lt. Derwin Adcock.
“It looks like they were bored and looking for something to do so they broke in to the pawn shop,” Adcock said. “One of the boys had his eye on one of the guns and was a bit of an enthusiast so that probably had something to do with it too.”
The cases will be heard in juvenile court.
