WCMS baseball sweeps twin bill
The Pioneers won the first game 11-0, behind a strong outing from pitcher Colby Killian, who went the distance, striking out six Gallatin batters and allowing just three hits.
The Pioneers piled up 14 runs in the game, with Joshua Bratcher going 3-for-4 to lead the way. Brooks Majors, Steven Ehrhardt and Jacob Bratcher each providing two hits and two runs.
Josh Paz and Jordan Underhill had two hits apiece, and Killian helped out his own cause with a base hit.
WCMS completed the sweep with a 13-9 victory, with eight different players connecting for base hits.
Majors finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored, while Jacob Bratcher was 3-for-3, scoring three runs, and Coty Grissom and Joshua Bratcher each went 3-for-4.
Grissom scored a run, while Joshua Bratcher scored two and drove in one for the winning tally. Killian finished 2-for-3, scoring three times and driving in a run.
Majors, Joshua Bratcher and Underhill all recorded stolen bases in the victory.
Majors got the start on the hill for WCMS, working three innings without allowing an earned run. Jacob Bratcher pitched the fourth, giving up one run. Grissom, who was credited with the win, and Paz also came on in relief roles.
Of Rucker Stewart’s nine runs in the second game, only two were earned.
The Pioneers are scheduled to host Friendship Christian Thursday in a doubleheader at Warren County High School, with the first game set for 4 p.m.
