Col. Gerry Z. (Hoot) Gipson, 68

Retired from the military and a businessman, he was a member of the Church of Christ and VFW Post 5064.
The son of the late Felix R. and Aleita Marie Bennett Gipson, he was preceded in death by wife, Adelia Denton Gipson.
He is survived by wife, Demetra Gipson; sons and daughters-in-law, Maj. Gerry Bruce and Renee Gipson of Fort Shafter, Hawaii, Ltc. Corey Z. and Becky Gipson of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Jared Parker of McMinnville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gilda and Kenneth Cantrell, Sandra and Malcolm Pedigo, all of McMinnville, Debbie and Terry Holleman of Nashville; brother and sister-in-law, LaBarry and Tana Gipson of McMinnville; grandchildren, Patrick, Megan and Ryan Gipson, Brittany and Michael Mayfield; mother-in-law Frances Denton of McMinnville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Diane Stanley of McMinnville.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Stanley and Jay Kitterman officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
Visitation will be held from noon until time of service today at Love-Cantrell & Cope. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and the Magness Library.
Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
