Along with hundreds of entrants, male and female between the ages of 15 to 25, Lara submitted two photos and one short paragraph on why she wanted to be a model or in show business.
As a result, she was selected among the top 12 finalists, then named among the top five, before being announced as the top winner.
She was invited for a television interview on WSMV More at Midday and participated in the modeling agency’s fashion show. She has competed in several beauty pageants, but this is her first venture into modeling.
As winner, Lara will receive a one-year modeling contract; music video appearance compliments of Picture Vision; photo shoot by fashion photographer Todd Killen; clothing for the shoot provided by Dillards; and special appearance at Hurd Agency Fashion Show at Rocket Town.
“Of course, my education is most important at this time,” Lara said. “I’ve been considering a college major in criminal justice, but with this new opportunity I might like to pursue a modeling career in the future,” Lara said.
“I hope to use my experience to let others know that true beauty is obtained from inner confidence in yourself and to be a role model to other Latinas to do the same.”
Lara is the daughter of Patricia and Sergio Torres and a junior at Cedars of Lebanon Academy, where she is an honor roll student and active in SWAT, a Christian drama team. Her interests include music, dance, theater and competing in pageants.
