Obituary Report for July 30, 2004
Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Anna Lou Simmons Haston, 72, died July 28 at River Park Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Her husband, John Alfred Haston, died in the same accident.
A retired factory worker and a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late James William and Eliza Hillis Simmons.
She is survived by her daughter, Emma Brady of Cookeville; son, Carlos Smith of Spencer; sisters, Sylvia Malugen and Emma Gene Hodges of McMinnville and Reba Gladden of Alabama; brother, James W. Simmons of Nashville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services for both Hastons will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Laurel Creek Baptist Church with Roy Terry, Garvin Haley and Fate Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Love-Cantrell & Cope Spencer Chapel.

John Alfred Haston, 75
Rock Island resident and Cincinnati, Ohio native John Alfred Haston, 75, died July 28 at River Park Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
His wife, Anna Lou Simmons Haston, died in the same accident.
Retired from Century Electric, a greeter at Wal-Mart, and a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Paul T. and Florence Glascock Haston; and was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Haston.
He is survived by his daughters, Janice Haston of Nashville, Marilyn Cunningham of McMinnvillle and Theresa Ware of Bone Cave; brother, Frank Haston of Ohio; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Clinton W. Hobbs, 55
Clinton W. Hobbs, 55, died July 29.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Geneva Hobbs.
He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Hobbs and Danny Hobbs, both of Altamont; and sisters, Shirley Ann Hobbs and Joann Ware of Irving College, Donna Sue Mayfield of McMinnville and Diane Hobbs of Altamont.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Layne Funeral Home in Altamont with Dal Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Fults Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Layne Funeral Home.

Letha Mai Dixon, 86
McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Letha Mai Dixon, 86, died July 28 at River Park Hospital after a six-week illness.
A homemaker and member of Mt. View Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late France and Nannie Fults; and was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Adam Dixon in 1983; son James Mack Horn; sister Leoma Rhea and brother, Clenzy Northcutt.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Edwin Martin of Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jimmie Dixon of Rock Island; special daughter, Jane Matney of McMinnville; grandchildren, Lang and Misti Dixon of McMinnville, Greta Martin of Murfreesboro, Bonita and Clyde Gunter of Morrison, Charlotte Horn of McMinnville and Lila Horn of Florida; great-grandchildren, Makenna, Cambrea and Keith Gunter and Kaylee and Parker Dixon; brother, Cleonard Northcutt of Key West, Fla.; and special friends, Willene Herriman and George Hodge.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Joe Ware officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service today at High’s.

Gabriel Blake Fellers, infant
Wartrace resident and Coffee County native Gabriel Blake Fellers, infant, died July 28 at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jo Ann Lynn; maternal great-grandmother, Minnie Lynn; and paternal grandfather, James Fellers.
He is survived by his parents, Tim and Tara Fellers of Beechgrove; brother, Garrett Cole Fellers of Beechgrove; aunt and uncle, Sonia and Eric McMahan of Fountain Grove; maternal grandfather, Marvin Lynn of Viola; paternal grandparents, Barbara and Don Hogue of Knoxville; aunt and uncle, Linda and Joe Bost; aunt, Barbara Bess; maternal great-grandmother, Beulah Dunlap of McMinnville; paternal great-grandparents, Hubert and Ollie Heatherly of Jacksboro; uncle, Jason Hogue of Knoxville; special cousins, Allison Bost of Dibrell and Conner Heatherly of Jacksboro; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Kevin Deason officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at High’s.
