Caldwell exhibits in Martin Gallery
Since childhood Caldwell has been interested in the ability of photographs to provide an indelible record of the world as a photographer sees it. Since moving to Morrison in 1999 she has devoted her time and energy to refining her skills in Digital Fine Art. A native of Atlanta, she was a professional in the printing industry for more than 20 years. Her art is influenced by lessons of design learned from leading national advertising agencies and by a love of the work of French Impressionists, modern abstract painters and photo journalists.
Using an emerging art form she begins with original photographs and her computer becomes a darkroom. Whether creating impressionistic landscapes, looking at the small parts of the larger whole, or creating vivid mandalas and abstracts, she brings a fresh view to common objects and scenes. She also explores the beauty in the faces of children and elders through her work in candid portraits.
She’s an award-winning artist and studied painting at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. She lived in Sapporo, Japan for two years where she first began serious work in photography. Since then she has traveled across America taking photographs in more than half the states.
The Art Center is located at 909 Hillsboro Blvd. beside Hardee’s in Manchester. For more information and gallery hours contact the center at 931-728-3434.
