March 13: Scottish genealogy seminar set

The Scottish Society of Middle Tennessee will sponsor a seminar on “Tracing Your Scottish and Scots-Irish Ancestry” at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Brentwood Library. The speaker will be Beth Gay, editor in chief of “The Family Tree.” This genealogical seminar is not to be missed if you are interested in Scottish or Scots-Irish genealogy.

Gay is a nationally recognized authority of Scottish and Scots-Irish genealogy. An engaging speaker, she is a down-to-earth, no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is type of speaker who is a well-known figure in genealogical circles. Since 1989, she has served as promotions director for the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library and the Odom Library in Moultrie, Ga. She is Scottish liaison and editor in chief of “The Family Tree,” the largest genealogical publication in the world and the largest Scottish publication in the world outside of Scotland. Gay also is a freelance writer with articles appearing in Genealogical Helper magazine and a regular columnist for the Moultrie Observer and The Florida Times-Union.
