Deadline set for craft entry

Tennessee Association of Craft Artists, a non-profit agency dedicated to educating and exposing people to the art of fine craft, announces that exhibitor applications are available to craft artists for the 33rd Tennessee Crafts Fair. The event is set for April 30, May 1 and 2 at Centennial Park in Nashville.

Any craft artist who is a Tennessee resident is invited to apply. Five color slides of recent work must accompany each application. Applications with slides must be received no later than Feb. 15 for consideration by the Tennessee Crafts Fair selection committee. The committee looks for original crafts of exceptional quality, both traditional and contemporary, which exhibit excellence of design and skilled craftsmanship in the execution of each piece. Applications are available by calling 615-385-1904 or on the web at www.tennesseecrafts.org.

The Tennessee Crafts Fair is the kickoff event for the spring season and annually attracts more than 50,000 visitors, providing an exceptional marketplace for Tennessee crafts of fine quality. Approximately 180 state craftspeople will be selected to participate, exhibiting works in clay, glass, metal, fiber, wood, hand-processed and printed photography and original prints. In addition, the three-day festival offers craft demonstrations, a variety of great food, children’s activities, and live music, all in front of Nashville’s replica of the historic Parthenon.

The Tennessee Crafts Fair is produced by TACA, the state-wide, non-profit agency which is recipient of the Governor’s Award in the Arts for exemplary service during more than 35 years connecting crafts and people across Tennessee.
