True jams at South Jackson Civic Center

Jazz fans from all over Middle Tennessee will gather Jan. 16 at the South Jackson Civic Center, Tullahoma, to experience the great lyricism of Vikki True. Raised in Louisville, Ky., True discovered Jazz at the age of 6 and since then took every opportunity to educate and emerge herself in the music.

True’s performances include: The Cool Jazz Festival, Women in Jazz Festival, The Derby Jazz Festival and the Berkshire Jazz Festival, as well as several others with her gospel group the Sweet Sisters of Mercy.

Jazz fans of all ages will get to listen and learn from this great musician. At 12:15 pm at the Civic Center, Vikki will hold a Journey into Jazz Education seminar for students interested in finding out more about jazz through the century. Tickets for students are $3.00 with study guides available.

Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $25. Combination tickets to the show and dessert at Emil’s restaurant immediately following the show are $37.
