Deadline to enter tennis tourney near

The deadline to enter the annual Security Federal tennis tournament is fast approaching, as no entries for the event will be accepted after 8 p.m. on Monday.

The tourney will be held at the McMinnville Civic Center June 6-9, with awards given to winners and finalists in each division. Also, a drawing will be held for two racquets on Saturday, June 8. Each participant in the tournament will receive a T-shirt.

Matches are the best two out of three sets, with a 12-point tiebreaker if needed.

Play begins Thursday, June 6, at 4:30 p.m., and earlier for locals who can do so. The finals will be on Saturday, and continue on Sunday if needed.

Divisions will include men’s and women’s singles “A,” “B,” and “C,” as well as junior singles with six divisions: Boys and Girls 10 and under, Boys and Girls 11-12, and Boys and Girls 13-14. Doubles divisions will have “A,” “B,” and “C” classes in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles divisions.

Entry fee for next week’s event is $15 per person for singles or doubles, except for members of the McMinnville Tennis Association, whose fee is $10 per event. No player may enter more than two events.
