Woman sues for accident on horseback
A woman injured in a horse-riding accident last year has filed suit against the stable, claiming it was negligent in giving her an unsafe horse.
The plaintiff, Amy N. Hurst, is asking for $100,000 in damages from Derwood Stewart for the injuries sustained in the accident last March.
According to Hurst’s suit, she went to Stewart’s farm to ride a horse and was given a horse which was reportedly supposed to be tame and gentle enough for riding. Shortly after mounting the horse, Hurst says she was thrown to the ground with “much force and violence.”
As result of the fall, Hurst says she has suffered severe and permanent injuries and has incurred medical bills in excess of $35,000. Hurst maintains the defendant failed to make prudent efforts to determine her ability to ride and that there were no signs posted, warning of the potential dangers.
Hurst has demanded a jury to hear the case which has not been set for trial at this time.
