The Station-Pure Art presents Mukherji exhibit

The Station-Pure Art proudly opens its 2005 summer exhibition with an award-winning photography show by Dr. Barun A. Mukherji.

This exhibit entitled, “A Celebration of Life: The Humanity and Artistry,” will open with a public reception for the artist on Sunday, June 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. Dr. Mukherji will be on hand to discuss his work.

Dr. Mukherji was born April 2, 1939 in Calcutta, India. There he attended medical school where he graduated in 1960.

In 1964, the Mukherjis moved to Hartford, Conn., where Dr. Mukherji completed his internship and residency in cardiovascular fellowship in 1973. Dr. Mukherji opened his general and vascular surgery practice in McMinnville shortly thereafter.

Dr. Mukherji has always had an interest in photography and has had his work published in a Calcutta newspaper, as well as a medical textbook, and even in the Southern Standard. He is board certified in Canada as well as the United States. Though his medical career and photography hobby have kept him busy, his alternate job has always been as a gardener helping his wife, Chitra.

“This is a breath-taking exhibit. The public is going to be astounded at this group of photos.” said The Station-Pure Art owner Vicki Monroe Spivey. “Many of the photos have been taken in their garden. He is particularly fond of orchids and some of the shots were taken on their trip to Africa. Many of the photographs look like something out of National Geographic.”

Spivey says this spectacular display of photography truly defies explanation, and you won’t be disappointed by the show.
